User requirements can be found below: - Supply Vactor operator with a location to fill the unit with water; - Supply one municipal employee to work with the Vactor Sewer Truck operator; and - Provide Vactor operator with proper dump site for debris and/or waste. All interested parties are invited to attend a tour of Waste Management’s (now WM) Greenstar Recycling Facility (4100 Grand Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15225). The tour will take place on Wednesday, June 1st at 11:00 a.m. Please note, the original tour scheduled for May 4th was cancelled due to poor weather. This site visit will provide an in-person visual demonstration of the recycling separation and consolidation process and will serve to highlight proper recycling techniques specific to the curbside recycling program. Those who are interested in attending the tour are asked to rsvp via email ([email protected]).
Allegheny County Economic Development (ACED) has announced the 2022 Act 152 Program’s application window will open on March 21, 2022 with applications being accepted until April 29th. Permissible projects through this program include the demolition of any residential, commercial, institutional or industrial structure within Allegheny County that meets 3 of the 9 blighted conditions as defined by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As a reminder, member communities may apply through the QVCOG for this program. The QVCOG has ample experience working in partnership with ACED including within their electronic application portal. Additionally, the QVCOG carries many of the insurance requirements mandated by the County. Member communities who apply through the COG (if selected for award) will be subject to the QVCOG’s utilization fee (2% of the total project grant award). Allegheny County Economic Development (ACED), in partnership with the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD), has announced that funding is now available through the Active Allegheny Grant Program (AAGP). The purpose of the AAGP is to provide financial assistance to communities to develop plans and design transportation projects that will, when implemented, provide bicycle and pedestrian connections to important local destinations and transportation systems and increase residents’ opportunities for physical activity. The QVCOG has launched a Pilot Glass Recycling Program for our fifteen member communities. The site opened on Saturday, March 12th and is located at Sewickley Borough's Riverfront Park (300 Chadwick St, Sewickley, PA 15143). Users are invited to use the site free of charge. The QVCOG anticipates that this Pilot Program will last approximately 3 months to evaluate the viability of the program. This Pilot Program is being funded through the QVCOG's joint recycling fund. At the Pilot Program's conclusion the QVCOG will evaluate the feasibility of establishing a second location (to be determined) as well as a shared cost structure based on each participating municipality's population.
