The Pennsylvania Electronic Government Consortium (PAeGovC) is a non-profit statewide organization dedicated to assisting with digital, technological transformations for local governments. In partnership with the the Pennsylvania Association of Councils of Governments (PACOG), PAeGovC is launching a municipal document scanning program offering local governments the opportunity to convert paper documents into electronic formats. To achieve economies of scale, a stronger negotiating position with private sector service providers, and more competitive funding, PAeGOVc is conducting a survey of document scanning needs in order to estimate quantities. Quaker Valley COG is assisting this effort by hosting the survey. Participation in the survey is open to local governments in Pennsylvania. Completion of the survey is not an obligation to conduct any program or make any purchase. It is an estimator for the purposes of examining the benefit of a group purchasing solutions. The State Planning Board is an advisory board within the Governor’s Office. It was established by the Administrative Code of 1929 as re-enacted and amended. There are 25 members, including citizens, legislators and state department heads. In August 2017, it issued its most recent report in response to the Governor's charge to make recommendations on infrastructure, efficiency, and community revitalization.
The Remaking Cities Institute (RCI) and Quaker Valley Council of Governments (QVCOG) Route 65 Corridor Project has been selected to receive support by Mobility 21, the US Department of Transportation supported University Transportation Center at Carnegie Mellon University. This award serves as a challenge grant for RCI and QVCOG to raise the additional funds to complete the project, slated to commence in July 2018. Click here to read a one-pager about this project.
While residents of the Quaker Valley COG area are well familiar with "The Boulevard," in fact, a comprehensive evaluation of its impacts, both pro and con, on the communities has not been performed. Until recently the definition of a highway corridor was not well-established. Recent research on the types of corridors, as well as technological change, now allows us to look at the impact of Route 65 on the various types of communities that align it. As Don Carter, Director of RCI succinctly put it at the QVCOG Annual Dinner last October, we are looking at the opportunity to finally "tame the highway." The Route 65 Corridor project will encompass QVCOG communities as well as 7 additional in Beaver County. Projects relating to safety, economic development, infrastructure, land use, marketing and promotion, multi-modal transportation, accessibility and more are potential outcomes of this study. Contact Susan Hockenberry, Executive Director, to learn how you can get involved in this project. ![]() QVCOG is pleased to again welcome Rick Vilello to our area.
